Avery's pre-k celebration

Today Avery's class had a small program in honor of the end of the school year. She will be heading off to kindergarten in August! We have been blessed with great caretakers Avery's whole life. When she was 4 months old a wonderful family friend, Brooke, kept Avery at her home until she was 18 months. From there she attended a wonderful church preschool for 2 years. The past two years she has attended pre-k in my school district. They offer a class specifically for teachers/administrator's children that  follows the district calendar and curriculum.  It is a little more like a daycare in that they take naps and have extended and early hours that are really convenient on those days I need to stay late at work (other prek classes in our district release at 2:00).
Today her teachers invited parents to the room for a little celebration. They didn't have the traditional pre-k graduation ceremony, but this was a really sweet and intimate program. They showed a slideshow of pictures from the entire year, the class sang a song for everyone, and each child received a certificate that was unique to them. Avery received the "Bubble Yum" award, because Ms. Cemanthia said her personality was so bubbly! With the certificate she gave her several packs of Bubble Yum gum. Each child's certificate matched with some type of candy. There was a "laffy taffy" for the class clown, Sweettarts for the sweet friend to everyone, ect... it was a really cute idea. I might steal it for next year! Shaun recorded everything with our video camera and I took pictures. I didn't get the best pictures because of where I was sitting, plus I was keeping Maitland out of trouble! It was a cute celebration and we will miss Avery's teachers and all of her friends. Now it's on to the next adventure....kindergarten!

I think I need to read "Blogger for Dummies" Why can't I rotate pictures?? It is the right way in my picture files but when I place it on the blog it has a mind of its own.
