Memorial Weekend

We had a busy but fun Memorial weekend! Around lunch time Saturday, my Aunt Annette and Uncle Mike came down from Fort Worth. We always have a great time with them, and the girls were counting down the minutes until they arrived. They came in with presents and the excitement began!

After we ate lunch we headed to the Lufkin Zoo. Our zoo is small, but we love it because it has a pretty lake, playground and train. Maitland LOVES trains right now so she had a blast. We walked around looking at the animals (and chasing Maitland!). It was really humid so after we left we headed to Orange Leaf for some frozen yogurt.

 

 After dinner and more playing, Annette and Mike sent Shaun and I off on a date to the movies! We haven't been to a movie theater in a really long time so it was a treat! We went to the late show and it was freeeeezing in the theater, but we had fun! I have to show this picture. Annette and Mike always bring us treats from Central Market. We love that store, and always visit one when we are in Fort Worth or Houston. My favorite thing to get there are the specialty olives and pimento cheese. Uncle 

Mike didn't disappoint and brought a cooler full of both, plus these yummy treats!

 

Sunday we headed to church, then lunch at Clear Springs. When we got back home we played some board games with the girls. They then broke into a tickle-fest with uncle Mike! We  sadly sent them on their way back to the city. We can't wait to go visit them this summer! After late afternoon naps, we loaded up and headed to the Ashby's to grill out and let the kids play. Anna and I grew up together and now we get to watch our girls play together! We had a fun time and stayed until almost 11:30! 

  

Today we have taken it easy. We ran some errands and let the girls play in the sprinkler. We all enjoyed a long nap too! 

We enjoyed our weekend as a family and are grateful for the men and women who fight for our freedom every day!
